Fr. Shane Simpson was ordained to the priesthood on June 21, 2019 after having been a former Transitional Deacon in the Episcopal Church in Maine.
Throughout his years in Christ, he has served in numerous positions—Laity Minister (since a teenager), acholyte, crucifer, and thurifer. It was during his early adult life that a Bishop from Maine—along with a former priest— introduced him into ordained ministry. He first started as a transitional deacon in 1996— which today that term isn’t used.
He first attended college at Maine Maritime Academy achieving a BSE (bachelors in science and engineering). During his years at the academy, he continued worshipping and serving at the local Episcopal church in Castine, ME. He and other students also held weekly fellowship meetings through a program called Campus Crusades for Christ. During all 4 years he was actively involved in that ministry also teaching and ministering to fellow classmates.
Currently, he is called to be the Episcopal Vicar of Asia. He serves as the Nicene Church liaison to the expanding ministries in Asia—currently working with churches in the Philippines. He also serve as the Administrator of the Nicene Church newsletter—Christ in Us News.
He has also recently submitted a thesis in consideration for a Doctorate in Ministry; titled Faith In Action Guided by the Holy Spirit. The future is uncertain but entrusting in God’s divine hand and he will serve as He intends.
